What Program Participants Say

Headshot of Michael Olonade

“Through the ALDP at MassMutual, I was entrusted early on with meaningful work that influenced real business decisions, while being supported by leaders who were genuinely invested in my development. I gained exposure across multiple actuarial functions, which helped me understand not only how actuarial models work, but also the broader strategic impact of the models we build and the decisions they inform.

The ALDP has played a foundational role in shaping my core competencies, including how I think analytically, communicate effectively, lead with confidence, and contribute within my team and the company. I’m grateful to be part of a program and a company that values development, inclusion, and long-term success. ”

“Being part of MassMutual’s actuarial internship program (and ultimately the full‑time ALDP) has been instrumental to both my personal and professional development. Transitioning from a college environment, where mentorship, collaboration, and leadership opportunities are readily available, can be challenging. The ALDP removes much of that uncertainty by providing built‑in support, guidance, and community. My time as an intern gave me just a glimpse into that and reinforced how valuable a structured, supportive program like the ALDP can be early in your career. In a field where progressing alongside a cohort experiencing the same challenges and taking the same exams is invaluable, I am continually grateful for the people and the support this program has provided.”

The program has given me the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across various impactful roles, while also being supported by strong mentorship and the entirety of the actuarial community. I believe my development has been accelerated through being challenged technically and being encouraged to think strategically about our business. Everything I have learned has helped me in my daily role while also supporting my journey toward pursuing the Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries.”

“The ALDP has been extremely beneficial in shaping my growth as an early‑career actuary. Through a variety of challenging rotations, mentorship, and exposure to diverse business areas, I’ve been able to concentrate on both building my technical skills and learning about the business decisions and corporate strategy that are pivotal to understanding the objectives of actuarial work. The program’s collaborative, community-driven environment has also helped broaden my perspective, experience new opportunities, and network with actuaries of diverse backgrounds that wouldn’t have been possible in other areas.”

“Being a part of MassMutual’s Actuarial Leadership Development Program has provided me with the opportunities and resources necessary to develop as an Actuary through exposure to a variety of Actuarial roles and specialties available across the organization. The ALDP allows me to grow as a professional while supporting my pursuit of Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries with generous study time, exam resources, and peer learning. As an Actuary and former Air Force Reservist, MassMutual’s ALDP worked with me to find development opportunities and a structure that fit my needs and facilitated the exploration of my Actuarial interests.”
