Job Description
Head of Liquidity Modeling and Analysis
Full-Time, Treasury Organization
Boston, MA, New York, NY or Springfield, MA
The Opportunity
As Head of Liquidity Modeling and Analysis, you will oversee sophisticated modeling frameworks that ensure the company can meet its financial obligations under both business-as-usual and extreme stress conditions. In this critical role, you will move beyond static snapshots to build a dynamic, forward-looking forecasting engine capable of navigating the unique complexities of life insurance cash flows. You will take full ownership of our stress testing environment—simulating extreme scenarios to expose vulnerabilities before they arise—and design the comprehensive contingent planning frameworks that serve as our strategic playbook in times of crisis. This is a high-visibility opportunity for a proactive leader to transform liquidity from a monitoring function into a powerful, predictive pillar of our strategic treasury management.
The Team
As a key leader within our Treasury organization, you will join a team dedicated to evaluating the complex trends of regulatory capital, operating liquidity, and financial flexibility. In this highly collaborative role, you will act as a strategic bridge, partnering regularly with experts across Investment Management, Enterprise Risk, and Actuarial teams to ensure an integrated approach to our financial strength.
The Impact
Liquidity Modeling and Stress-Testing
- Architect and lead the enhancement of complex stress-testing engines that simulate the intricate interplay between market volatility and policyholder behavior, including dynamic lapses and surrender scenarios
- Report on key performance drivers and variance trends to inform decision-making
- Refine the governance approach for managing liquidity at the investment segment level for the General and Corporate Investment Accounts to better quantify the trade-offs between asset liquidity and portfolio performance
Contingent Liquidity Planning
- Lead the quantitative assessment of contingent funding requirements, ensuring an optimal balance between safety and capital efficiency
- Create actionable Liquidity Playbooks that address the practicalities of asset liquidation and accounting impacts
- Stress-test and refine Contingency Funding Plans across a diverse spectrum of idiosyncratic and systemic shocks to guarantee organizational readiness
·Leadership
- Orchestrate thriving partnerships across Treasury, Risk and Investment teams to ensure a unified and proactive approach to liquidity management
- Spearhead high-impact initiatives that modernize our forecasting capabilities and strengthen MassMutual’s financial resilience
- Synthesize complex analytical findings into compelling executive narratives that drive decisive action at the senior leadership levels
- Cultivate a high-performing team, providing the strategic vision to prioritize mission-critical work while championing the professional growth of every member
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in finance, actuarial science, mathematics, economics or related field
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance, treasury, investments, asset liability management or risk management for a life insurance company
- Proven track record of managing technical teams and driving cross-functional collaboration
The Ideal Qualifications
- CFA, FSA/ASA or FRM
- Experience modeling or pricing insurance liabilities and familiarity with their redemption rights and potential for sudden cash demands
- Expertise in Fixed Income analytics and the liquidity characteristics of corporate bonds, MBS, and alternative investments
- Experience working in a Finance transformational setting; driving change and managing competing priorities
