The Opportunity

MassMutual is looking for a leaderwho is excited tostreamline the procurement process,leverageemerging technology, and increase the value provided to our policyholdersWeare continuously looking tomatureour procurement operating modelwith afocus on standardization,enhancingthe customerexperience,implementingindustrybest practices, and reducing supplierspend. To achieveourmissionto expertly source and manage products and services from a balanced supplier base to proactively advance our stakeholders’ strategic priorities,theHead of Procurement Operational Excellencewilldevelopourintegrated processes,translatebusinessneedstoour tech roadmap, and createa comprehensiveuserexperiencethrough collaborationwith upstream and downstream partners in the procurement process.  This role willreportintothe Head of Operations and Enablement, andsitsat the intersection ofdesign and execution todevelop abest-in-class end-to-end process

The Team

TheHead of Procurement Operational Excellenceis a member oftheProcurementOperations& Enablementteam and partners closely across all areas ofProcurementand enterprise stakeholderstodefine and continuouslydevelopourprocess excellence.TheOperations and Enablementteamiscomprised of experts who willown and define our Policy and Standards,seamlesslyintegrate our end-to-end process across the source to pay lifecycle, help implement key technology enhancements in conjunction with our Innovation and Data team, and ensure we are continuously evolving our processes to reduce cost and increase productivity.

The Impact

TheHead of Procurement Operational ExcellencereportstotheHead of ProcurementOperations& Enablementandis a highly skilledleaderresponsible for architecting and driving end-to-endProcurement transformation. This role blends deepexpertisein businessand processarchitecture with advancedskills inworkflow creation,KPI development and tracking,and user experience whileserving as a strategic partner and change agent across theenterprise.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with cross-departmental partners, design andmaintainthe procurement business architecture, aligning process frameworks, organizational structures, and technology platforms to enterprise strategy and goals

  • Lead the development ofa decision-making frameworkand target state designs, ensuring integration withenterprisefunctions (Finance, Legal, Risk, Compliance, IT)

  • Serve as thebusinessarchitect for process mapping, capability modeling, and strategic alignment, enabling procurement to deliver measurable value and support enterprise transformation initiatives

  • Drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement processes, policies, and controls to ensure consistency, compliance, and risk mitigation

  • Leadthe user experienceandpartner deeply with the CFPMO on implementingchange managementto drive process compliance

  • Ensure successfulimplementation plans are created to reach adoption goals forprocess and technology enhancements

  • Drive enterprise partnershipto ensure stakeholder’s needs are beingidentifiedandmetthrough process and technology solutions

  • Develop holisticworkflowsin conjunction with enterprise governance,complianceand regulatory requirements

  • Engage in and support implementation of large-scale digital workflow platforms supporting enterprise governance and procurement processes

  • Lead transformation initiatives, including process standardization, automation, and adoption of industry best practicesto meet both team and stakeholder needs

  • Championa continuous improvement mindset, translatingefficiencies intoprocurement and enterpriseoperating norms and best practices

  • Lead the COE teamcomprisedofbusiness consultantsassistingwith process design, control ownership,training,implementationand standard operating procedures

  • Mentor and coach team and subject matter experts, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and accountability

  • Developand challengeKPIs andperformance metricsthatmeasureprogress of strategic goals

  • Optimizequality delivery across operations using data-driven decisions

  • Assess performance of quality metrics and initiateprocess improvements, change management and training to drive corrective actions

  • Establish ownership of procurement standards and associated outcomes (e.g.accuratedata, process compliance, quality input, etc.) and work with owners to ensure quality delivery

BasicQualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree inLaw, Business, Finance, SupplyChainor a related field

  • 8+ years ofoperations,business analysis, strategy, orbusinessarchitectureexperience

  • 5+ years oflarge-scalebusiness process modeling, capability assessments, and architecture frameworkexecution

  • Priordemonstrated results leadingteams orowninglarge-scaleinitiatives

  • Excellentanalytical and problem-solving skills toidentifyprocess inefficiencies and develop data-driven solutionsusing proven methodologies

  • Strong communicationskills, both written andverbal,including excellent presentation skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to build andmaintainstrong working relationships across cross-functional groups

  • Highly motivated to make impactful improvement for the team and business partners

  • Ability to travel up to20% of the time to support the needs of the organization

  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Experience:

  • MBA,JDAor other advanced degree

  • Previousexperience in a mutual company or similar financial services / insurance industry 

  • Experience with technical transformations using workflow tools

  • Implementation of AI basedplatformand/or experience creating processesutilizingAI tools
