Job Description
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Whole Life Insurance Business Development Director (Hybrid Wholesaler) to lead whole life distribution through a third-party distribution channel focused on independent financial professionals. We’re identifying new ways to support more Americans on their journey to financial wellbeing. This role is pivotal in supporting independent financial professionals who may operate in non-traditional markets, helping them grow their businesses through product education, sales support, and relationship management.
In this role you will build and grow relationships with a select group of financial professionals across the United States, supporting sales efforts, training, and education. You will be accountable for driving production and increasing product penetration within this assigned group of financial professionals.
The Team
This distribution effort is led by the Third Party Distribution and New Markets (TPD&NM) team, with dedicated support from a cross-functional group that includes New Business/Underwriting, Case Management, Client Experience and Services, Advisor Operations, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Learning & Development, and Marketing. Team members bring a strong track record of customer focus, collaboration, and delivering sales results.
The Impact
As a Business Development Director, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Build and nurture relationships and develop new business opportunities with a select group of independent financial professionals nationwide
Develop and deliver regular education and training sessions on product features, competitive positioning, and sales strategies, with a strong focus on product training on whole life insurance
Execute defined activity expectations and account management strategies to drive sales growth
Provide sales tools, marketing materials, and illustration support as needed
Deliver technical product support and consultative sales guidance to advisors before and after the sale
Respond to advisor inquiries related to product design, positioning, sales concepts, underwriting, and case support
Share best practices and success stories to support advisor engagement and development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve escalations, prioritize work, and improve processes
Lead and execute strategies for broker meetings, training sessions, and key initiatives
Leverage Salesforce and other tools to track and monitor sales activity and performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and provide regular updates to leadership
Effectively manage travel and expense budgets
The Minimum Qualifications
2+ years of distribution experience
1+ years of experience in whole life insurance products
State Life and Health License required at time of application
High school diploma or equivalent
Up to 50% travel required
The Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
Demonstrated success driving sales results within an assigned territory
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adapt to changing demands
Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven presentation and negotiation capabilities
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of work and proactively drive initiatives from concept through execution
Compensation: $65K-$75K base range plus sales-based incentive opportunity resulting in a total target compensation package of $140K-$165K
