Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

AI Product Owner – Microsoft Copilot & Anthropic Claude, AI Enablement Team, Research & Development (ETX)

Full-Time (Hybrid Onsite 3 days/week), Springfield, MA

The Opportunity

MassMutual now runs two enterprise AI platforms, Microsoft Copilot and Anthropic Claude, but no one person owns their strategy, access, adoption, or cost. That leads to overlapping tools, inconsistent user guidance, and spend that isn’t tied to measurable value. As the AI Product Owner, you will be the single accountable owner across both platforms for the roadmap, licensing, and vendor relationships, give clear guidance on which tool fits each use case, and bring the adoption and FinOps discipline we need to turn our AI investment into proven business results.

You will work in a fast-moving, highly visible environment at a pivotal time for MassMutual and our industry, as generative and agentic AI fundamentally transform how we operate and deliver value to our customers, financial professionals, and employees. You will lead diverse, matrixed teams to deliver products and solutions within budget and time constraints, work independently and with management to resolve key issues and critical decisions, and coach and mentor others across the organization.

The Team

MassMutual’s technical delivery for emerging technologies sits within R&D, the team is in growth mode, building out our generative and agentic AI technical talent alongside our change management talent in the AI Enablement Team. As part of the AI Enablement Team, you will partner closely with the Director of AI Enablement, the Technical Enablement Lead, AI Governance, Human Resources, Communications, Corporate Finance, Data Science & AI Engineering, and business leaders to make sure both platforms deliver measurable value and are adopted responsibly at scale.

The Impact:

This role puts you at the center of MassMutual’s AI transformation, shaping how we use AI to deliver on our key business outcomes and strategy at the highest levels. If we are successful, we will not only transform MassMutual, we will also set an example for the rest of our industry. Day to day, you will:

  • Own the integrated AI productivity strategy and roadmap for Microsoft Copilot (Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Chat, and Copilot Studio) and Anthropic Claude (Claude Chat, Claude Code, Claude Skills, Claude Cowork, and Claude for Financial Services), determining which capabilities to pilot, scale, integrate, rationalize, or retire based on evidence of value, risk, and cost, so our AI portfolio stays aligned to enterprise strategy and business priorities.
  • Set clear guidance on which platform fits each persona and use case, and own a unified AI productivity backlog that turns business needs and user feedback into requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria, giving users a consistent, easy-to-navigate experience with minimal overlap.
  • Drive adoption with the AI Enablement Consultants, Human Resources, and the Technical Enablement Lead through training, onboarding, office hours, support, and well-governed, discoverable catalogs of Copilot Agents and Claude skills, plugins, and connectors, and lead pilots with clear entry and exit criteria that grow into sustainable services.
  • Define adoption and value metrics across both platforms (access, activation, sustained usage, proficiency, and business impact) and partner with Program Management and Corporate Finance on FinOps, tracking license and consumption costs, forecasting spend, and optimizing cost against value, so our AI investment is tied to measurable results.

Throughout, you will communicate with conviction, clarity, and a bias for action, collaborate with a diverse team to move MassMutual leaders to action, and further develop your own leadership style, building on your passions, strengths, and personal values.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, or enterprise platform ownership, including 2+ years owning or delivering generative AI products or solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot Studio, including a working understanding of agents, connectors, and Microsoft 365 admin and licensing controls OR 2+ years of experience with Anthropic Claude, including Claude Chat, Projects, Skills, and connectors, with a working understanding of Claude Code
  • 4+ years of experience owning product roadmaps, backlogs, and release planning in an agile environment
  • 2+ years' experience and knowledge of LLM capabilities, limitations, prompt engineering, and evaluation techniques
  • 4+ years of experience driving technology adoption through training, communications, champion networks, and change management
  • 4+ years of experience managing strategic vendor relationships and influencing vendor product roadmaps

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Product ownership certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe POPM) or relevant Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 or Copilot credentials)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an analytical field such as Economics or Mathematics
  • Experience with Copilot Studio agent building, Claude Code, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Claude skills and plugins, or other agentic AI frameworks
  • Experience administering enterprise AI platforms, including managing agent, plugin, skill, or connector catalogs at scale
  • Experience running a multi-vendor AI strategy or rationalizing overlapping enterprise tools
  • Experience with FinOps or consumption-based cost management for cloud or AI services
  • Experience administering or governing enterprise SaaS platforms, including access models, license management, identity integration (SSO/SCIM), and usage analytics
  • Familiarity with Responsible AI, model risk, and AI governance concepts
  • Experience within the life insurance or broader financial services industry
  • Ability to quickly break down problems in a structured manner, analyze complex data, prioritize analyses, and quickly discern what is most important to draw out insights and implications
  • Outstanding communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build enduring, trust-based, and high-impact relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Resilient and adaptable approach to getting the work done, with the judgment to balance process compliance with broader business objectives
  • Outcome oriented, with the ability to switch between drilling into technical details and pulling up to see the big picture as needed
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence without authority

What to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team

  • Regular meetings with the AI Enablement Team
  • Focused one-on-one meetings with your manager
  • Access to mentorship opportunities
  • Networking opportunities including access to Asian, Hispanic/Latinx, African American, women, LGBTQ, veteran and disability-focused Business Resource Groups
  • Access to learning content on Degreed and other informational platforms
  • Your ethics and integrity will be valued by a company with a strong and stable ethical business with industry leading pay and benefits
