Job Description
Annuity Product Management Consultant
Full-Time, Springfield or Boston
The Opportunity
Drive implementation of new annuity products, features, enhancements and capabilities. Role will help drive all aspects of the implementation efforts from start to post launch. This includes development of product specs, business requirements, testing and delivery of product to the marketplace. Act as owner and SME throughout the product implementation and deployment process. Work collaboratively and communicate effectively across all functions of the business including sales, marketing, operations, ETX/IT, law and compliance. Provide ongoing support for product management efforts for in force business as well as new development working closely with the annuity product management and implementation leads.
The Team
The annuity product team drives all product development and management of a rapidly growing business. MM Annuity has grown to be a top 5 player and the product team has a strong team consisting of actuarial and non-actuarial resources. It is a very collaborative and team oriented environment where everyone works together, supports one another and harnesses to broad skill sets across the team in an effort to reach the best outcomes.
The Impact:
This position plays a critical role in in the design and execution of new products. MassMutual Annuity has seen significant growth and this role is important in collaborating with teammates and business partners to achieve the strategic objective of offering a well rounded product suite to meet the diverse needs of our distributors and customers
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:
Overseeing the entire implementation lifecycle, from product specs to post implementation support, ensuring project goals and timelines are met
Leading and coordinating cross-functional teams, including Pricing, Marketing, Sales, Compliance, Legal, Operations, State Filing and ETX/IT to ensure a unified and efficient implementation process
Developing a thorough understanding of the product being implemented, including its features, functionality, and how it addresses client’s needs
Utilize competitive research to find ways to enhance the annuity product suite
Act as product SME for sign-off on contracts, Illustrations, marketing, and training materials while acting as a resource to answer product-oriented questions
Collaborating with leadership to establish product KPI’s, identify product enhancements, and contribute to the overall product vision and strategy
The Minimum Qualifications
7+ years relevant product experience
1+ year experience communicating & presenting new ideas to sales partners and senior leadership including ability to assist with product specifications drafting
1+ year of experience of financial services value chain including product, distribution, marketing, IT and operational/service capabilities
1+ year experience working through detailed product implementation work including specifications development, act as subject matter expert and support product testing
The Ideal Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to present new ideas to sales partners and senior leadership including ability to assist with product specifications drafting
Ability to work cross-functionally to reconcile competing priorities while meeting organizational objectives
Strong grasp of financial services value chain including product, distribution, marketing, IT and operational/service capabilities
Working knowledge of overall retirement landscape and research outlets that provide insight into consumer needs
Ability to analyze and apply competitive information to define new product opportunities and support a business case
Strong business acumen and understanding of how annuities make money and risks posed by the product
Sound business judgment in an environment of rapid change - ability to respond to changes in direction, tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
Comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity, and able to explore multiple solutions to a problem
Takes ownership and is results-oriented
