The Opportunity
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to support systems requirements and solution definition across insurance product development programs. This Business Systems Analyst role will partner with Product, Operations, Architecture, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Delivery, and vendor teams to translate business objectives into clear, actionable requirements that support the successful delivery of new and enhanced insurance products.
The Team
The Insurance, Worksite, & Institutional Technology organization supports the technology capabilities required to design, launch, enhance, and service insurance products across Life, Annuity, Disability, and related product lines. The team works across policy administration, new business and underwriting, illustrations, product rules and calculations, data integrations, digital experiences, correspondence, reporting, and downstream operational platforms. The Business Systems Analyst will contribute to successful delivery by producing high-quality requirements, clarifying system impacts, supporting solution alignment, and helping reduce downstream rework.
The Impact
This position is accountable for analyzing business needs, documenting systems requirements, supporting solution definition, and ensuring requirements are clear, testable, and aligned to product development outcomes. The role supports cross-functional initiatives from discovery through implementation by helping teams understand current-state processes, future-state needs, system impacts, dependencies, data considerations, and acceptance criteria. Success requires strong analytical skills, insurance domain knowledge, collaboration, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across business and technology stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities

- Translate business needs into system-ready detail: Convert product strategies, business rules, product specifications, operational needs, and regulatory considerations into clear business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, use cases, process flows, interface needs, data requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Analyze system and process impacts: Assess upstream, downstream, data, integration, operational, reporting, and customer experience impacts across the insurance technology ecosystem.
- Support solution definition: Partner with solution architects, product owners, engineering teams, QA, vendors, and platform teams to clarify requirements, evaluate solution options, identify dependencies, document assumptions, and support design decisions.
- Use AI to improve productivity: Apply AI-enabled tools to accelerate first drafts, improve documentation consistency, summarize requirements inputs, identify potential gaps, and explore practical ways to improve effectiveness across the team while applying appropriate review and quality controls.
- Facilitate working sessions: Lead or support discovery sessions, requirement reviews, process walkthroughs, design discussions, defect triage conversations, and sign-off preparation with business and technology stakeholders.
- Manage requirement clarity and change: Identify requirement gaps, ambiguity, conflicts, and scope changes; document impacts and raise risks, issues, decisions, and open questions to the appropriate project or program leads.
- Support testing and validation: Partner with QA, UAT, business SMEs, and engineering teams to ensure test scenarios and acceptance criteria validate business outcomes and integrated system behavior.
- Maintain traceability and documentation quality: Keep requirements, decisions, assumptions, dependencies, open items, and acceptance criteria organized, current, and traceable throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Communicate status and risks: Provide concise updates on requirements progress, open questions, risks, decisions needed, and readiness for design, development, testing, and implementation activities.
