Job Description

The Opportunity

We’re looking to hire a Finance Consultant to join our team! You’ll be primarily accountable for the Program Management functions supporting MMFA Field Capital Management Programs. Your duties will include loan program design, application review and offers, coordinating the approval process and document execution, performance reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial analysis with a focus on program alignment and risk management.  In addition to these duties, you will engage, and support as needed in the broader teams’ functions of compensation program design, financial modeling, compensation analytics, and Regulation 4228 compliance duties. You’ll collaborate with the field, financial consultants and regions to advise and communicate programs, as well as navigate internal relationships such as Corporate Finance, Compliance and Legal functions. You will work in a fast paced, collaborative environment researching and handling complex problem resolution.

The Team

The Field Capital Management team provides tangible impacts to customers, both internal and external. The team works closely with the overall Compensation Program Management team and management to collaborate, brainstorm and problem solve. The team is heavily relied upon to provide innovation across compensation program design, loan program management, analytics and advanced modeling. We collaborate with various areas of the company including legal, IT, actuaries, field management, operations, accounting, compliance and MMLIS. Each team member has personal ownership for specific programs and functions yet works in a highly collaborative environment. Team members are creative, agile, resilient, detail-oriented, and have strong communication skills.  This high impact team feels a sense of accomplishment and can see immediate impacts of their efforts on an ongoing basis.

The Impact:

As a Finance Consultant, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Execute Field Capital Management functions ranging from program ideation and design all the way through the program life-cycle to documentation, implementation, administration, forecasting and reporting
  • Handle the underwriting and execution of all MMFA Field Capital Management loans including, but not limited to, application review, in good order processing, underwriting offer and negotiation process, internal review and approvals, document execution and performance reporting
  • Engage and support in broader team functions covering Agent and General Agent compensation program design, documentation, modeling, analysis, problem solving, and regulatory support (examples NY Regulation 4228, Regulation BI (Best Interest), etc
  • Communicate clearly with agents and agency management to explain, problem solve and educate. Strong consulting and customer service skills
  • Build a deep understanding of Agent and General Agent compensation, back up other team members on critical functions
  • Engage in continuous improvement thinking, innovative problem solving, and implementing best practice policies and procedures aligning with organizational goals and objectives
  • Continually adjust priorities and handle multiple demands with urgency to meet deadlines
  • Create and update advanced excel models to manipulate and deliver information

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical, finance, accounting, or mathematical based position
  • 2+ years of expertise in Excel (VLookups, Pivot Tables, Basic Logic) for data manipulation

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in an analytical, finance, accounting, or mathematical based position within financial services
  • 2+ years of experience work with a field sales team or a general agency system
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills, both written, verbal, and presentation and negotiating skills
  • Demonstrated ability working independently, with ambiguity and exploring/identifying technical solutions
  • High degree of ownership and sense of urgency
  • A self-starter with critical attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the MassMutual career agency system, contract types, MassMutual and MMLIS products and services and related compensation types
  • Experience with NY Regulation 4228 (covering compensation limits and delivery mechanisms among other things)
  • Experience with SIERA reporting system
  • Experience with the LoanPro application
