Job Description
The Opportunity
Investment Management (IM) is seeking an experienced communications and financial analysis professional to join the Investment Reporting & Communications team. Reporting to the Head of IM Financial Communications, this role will partner closely with the entire team to help develop and execute IM's financial communications strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing investment, financial, and business performance data and translating complex information into clear, compelling communications for executive leadership, boards, rating agencies, and other internal and external stakeholders. Working across Investment Management and key enterprise functions, this individual will help shape cohesive narratives that connect investment performance and strategic priorities to broader enterprise objectives.
This role requires a combination of strong analytical capabilities, communication expertise, business acumen, and relationship management skills. The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted partner to investment and corporate leaders, helping ensure that Investment Management's financial results, strategic initiatives, and market perspectives are communicated accurately, consistently, and effectively.
The Team
The Investment Management Reporting & Communications team is part of the IM Strategy & Governance Organization. The team plays a critical role in advancing Investment Management's strategic priorities by driving transparency, governance, and effective decision-making across the organization.
The broader Strategy & Governance organization is responsible for business strategy execution, governance, operating model evolution, budget oversight, board and rating agency engagement, investment compliance, due diligence, vendor oversight, manager oversight, investment data strategy, and enterprise stakeholder communications.
Impact / Key Responsibilities
Financial Communications & Strategic Partnership
- Partner with the Head of Investment Management Financial Communications to develop and execute Investment Management's financial communications strategy.
- Help shape and communicate the financial narrative surrounding investment performance, investment operations, portfolio positioning, and strategic initiatives.
- Translate complex investment, market, and business information into concise, insightful communications tailored to executive, board, and external audiences.
- Support the development of messaging that aligns Investment Management's results and priorities with enterprise objectives and financial outcomes.
- Collaborate with senior leaders and subject matter experts to identify key themes, trends, risks, opportunities, and business developments requiring communication.
Reporting & Presentation Development
- Develop executive-level presentations, reports, briefing materials, talking points, and supporting analyses for senior leadership, boards, rating agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Synthesize information from multiple investment, finance, risk, and operational teams into a cohesive and consistent narrative.
- Develop and maintain supporting analyses and attribution materials that reinforce key messages and strategic themes.
- Ensure messaging remains consistent across investment-related reporting and communications.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with leaders across Investment Management, Finance, Risk, Actuarial, Strategy, Investor Relations, Enterprise Communications, and Media Relations to develop aligned messaging.
- Participate in regular business reviews, operating meetings, and strategic discussions to gather insights and understand emerging developments.
- Serve as a key point of coordination for investment-related communications efforts across multiple stakeholder groups.
Process & Governance
- Help establish and enhance end-to-end reporting and communications processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, transparency, and strong governance.
- Develop a deep understanding of investment results and their underlying drivers to support effective communication and storytelling.
- Exercise independent judgment in analyzing information, identifying key insights, and developing recommendations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement efforts that enhance the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of Investment Management communications.
Subject Matter Expertise
- Serve as a communications and financial analysis resource for colleagues and stakeholders across the organization.
- Stay informed on market developments, investment trends, and industry dynamics that may impact communications and stakeholder engagement.
- Support responses to rating agency, board, executive leadership, and other external stakeholder requests as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Actuarial Science, Communications, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in investment management, financial analysis, strategic communications, investor relations, life insurance, or consulting.
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience communicating complex information, interpreting investment data clearly and effectively through written materials, verbal presentations, and stakeholder interactions, with experience presenting to senior leaders, clients, or cross-functional teams.
- 2+ years demonstrated ability to independently manage complex projects and multiple competing priorities.
- 3+ years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ideal Qualifications
- MBA, CFA, CPA, or comparable advanced degree/designation.
- Experience supporting board reporting, rating agency engagements, investor relations, or executive communications.
- Experience using data management, reporting, or visualization tools.
- Experience within investment management, insurance asset management, insurance finance, rating agencies, or management consulting.
- Strong understanding of life insurance company investments, asset-liability management, and institutional asset management.
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of the organization.
- Executive presence and experience interacting with senior leadership.
- Strong storytelling skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights.
