Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

MassMutual Operations is looking for an experienced and strategic Project Portfolio Management Consultant to join the Strategy & Transformation organization. You will report to the Director, Portfolio Governance and Reporting. This position is available as a hybrid position, based at our Springfield, MA headquarters.

In this role, you'll help advance our organizational maturity in demand and capacity management by designing governance frameworks, facilitating planning conversations, and uncovering resource trends that enable more informed decision-making. You’ll have the opportunity to shape how our Operations department forecasts, allocates, and maximizes people resources. Working across functions and with senior leadership, you’ll bring clarity to complex data and ensure our teams are empowered to focus on the most critical priorities—at the right time, with the right support.

This is a business-focused role—not a technical developer or architect position—designed for professionals with deep knowledge of portfolio governance and demand forecasting.

THE IMPACT
In this role, you'll help shape the future of Operations by establishing robust governance frameworks and advancing enterprise-wide demand and capacity management practices. You’ll be instrumental in driving strategic conversations with senior leadership—surfacing actionable insights, identifying resource trends, and strengthening alignment between people, priorities, and planning. Your work will directly influence how we make decisions, allocate talent, and forecast future needs. By coordinating planning efforts and developing executive-ready materials, you’ll ensure leaders have the visibility and confidence to invest resources where they deliver the greatest value. Ultimately, you’ll help create a more agile and empowered Operations organization—one where teams are resourced effectively, workstreams are optimized, and strategic priorities are met with precision, all while interfacing with leaders at all levels across the organization.

  • Lead initiatives to understand, model, and forecast resource availability across Operations—including personnel, budget, and technology needs.

  • Identify potential bottlenecks and advocate for timing adjustments or strategic trade-offs to improve delivery feasibility.

  • Drive planning processes to ensure the right talent is deployed to the right workstreams at the right time.

  • Translate portfolio performance metrics—including resource utilization, time tracking, and project progression—into meaningful insights and leadership reporting.

  • Collaborate with analytics teams to surface trends, risks, and opportunities that inform executive planning and investment decisions.

  • Provide business-focused leadership in platform use and future enhancements of Clarity PPM in partnership with Technology, supporting integration with operations strategy, data management, and forecasting.
