Job Description
The Opportunity
Are you a strategic communicator who loves turning complex ideas into clear, compelling stories? As a Strategic Communication Consultant supporting HR, Law, Compliance and more, you’ll help shape how employees experience some of the most important moments in their careers at MassMutual.
In this role, you'll partner with leaders across Human Resources, Law and our corporate functions to develop and execute communication strategies that drive employee understanding, build trust, and foster engagement. Whether you're working on compensation, performance management, talent development, benefits, company policies or enterprise initiatives, you'll turn complex information into clear, meaningful communications.
This role blends strategic thinking, storytelling, and project management. You'll serve as a trusted advisor to business partners, shaping messaging, anticipating employee questions, and identifying connections across the organization. The ideal candidate is someone with strong judgment, exceptional writing and planning skills, and the ability to move easily between strategy and execution. Someone who is naturally curious, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

The Team
The HR & Enterprise Communications team helps employees navigate some of the most important moments in their careers at MassMutual. Working closely with leaders and subject matter experts, we translate complex topics into communications that re clear and actionable. With everything we do, we strive to help employees understand what matters to them, connect their work to the company's direction, and build trust through timely, transparent communication.
The Impact
- Inform, engage, connect and inspire MassMutual employees through clear, straightforward communications that enhance the overall employee experience.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leaders across our corporate functions, developing employee-centered communication strategies, and making connections across various initiatives to our broader strategy.
- Lead or support communications related to the employee experience, such as compensation, performance management, talent development, benefits, company policies, and more.
- Develop compelling content across a variety of channels, including presentations, intranet articles, email, video, digital displays, and more.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities while ensuring high-quality execution and delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- 8+ years of communications experience - including communication strategy, project management and content creation with the ability translate complex information into clear compelling messages
- 3+ years’ experience developing and executing employee communications that drive engagement, understanding, and alignment with business priorities.
Ideal Qualifications
- Passion for employee communications and creating engaging, meaningful employee experiences.
- Demonstrated success advising senior leaders and influencing stakeholders while building strong collaborative relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Experience managing multiple projects, competing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven success leading executive-level all-employee meetings, company-wide communication events, and large-scale communication initiatives.
- Strong visual storytelling capabilities, including the effective use of graphics, photography, video, presentations, and other multimedia formats to enhance communication impact.
- Experience using artificial intelligence tools, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve communication planning, content development, and execution.
- Knowledge of communication measurement, employee engagement, and change communication practices, with a commitment to continuously improving communication effectiveness through innovation and best practices.
- Ability to partner effectively with leaders, subject matter experts, designers, publishers, and other stakeholders to manage the end-to-end development and delivery of employee communications.
