Job Description
The Opportunity
As Head of Field Management – East, you will have regional alignment and General Agent assignments that are within MMFA’s East region. You will be responsible for building a regional strategy and firm-by-firm strategy for growth and alignment to MMFA. You will be responsible for regional culture building, creating receptivity to MMFA advisor strategy. This role is a field-facing leader with the ability to lead strategically, work within a matrix organization, and navigate escalated issues with an opportunistic mindset. Acting as the key relationship manager and main point of contact for the firms in the East region, this role will work directly with General Agents and the field.
The Team
The Head of Field Management - East resides on a team within MassMutual Financial Advisors (“MMFA”) as a key leader in the Field Management organization, responsible for developing strong business partner and coaching relationships with General Agents, Sales Managers and top advisors, and utilizing the relationships to align firm activity with MMFA direction. This role reports directly to MassMutual’s Head of Field Strategy and Execution and works closely with senior leaders in MMFA and our Broker Dealer and will also require cross organizational collaboration with other MassMutual departments. Members of this team are strategic, agile, collaborative, and have strong communication skills. Influential leadership as well as matrix managing is critical to success.
The Impact:
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong industry knowledge and experience and will execute on the strategy for the West region within MMFA to grow distribution.
With accountability to your assigned firms and the Home Office, you are responsible for overall firm health, including financial viability, profitability, and supervision. Being responsible for driving results, including sales growth, and recruiting and Net field force, you will own the strategic plan and goal setting for assigned regional firms. You will act as the main point of contact for conflict resolution & problem solving and be responsible for aligning resources supporting these firms. You will drive awareness and institution of Home Office Platforms and initiatives. You will mentor and provide best practice direction, guidance, and support to your firms. You will help develop advisor and firm leadership experience, with a focus on diversity in Sales Manager, Advisor, General Agent, and firm culture. You will coach General Agents on how to understand and utilize compensation financial levers and contracts. You will lead the charge on all life cycle points of a firm, including recruiting and of General Agents, business succession planning, sales leadership development, change management, as well as strategic market development.
The Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience including industry certifications
Minimum 15 years of financial services experience
Prior experience working with field sales forces as well as the ability to build relationships with the home office
Prior track record in building partnerships with senior leaders
Demonstrated ability to lead and execute projects
Strong financial acumen
History of managing in a complex regulatory marketplace
Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills
Must have FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses
Travel within territory (east) 50-70%
Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
The Ideal Qualifications
15+ years financial services industry experience, with direct Life insurance and wealth/GDC experience
Familiarity or experience with insurance products and distribution
Management or leadership experience
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to communicate effectively, including the ability to present complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive information
Great relationship and collaboration skills
Experience collaborating with a team with varying skill sets
Ability to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment, including the ability to adapt to changing business priorities
Ability to think strategically, with proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence outcomes

Salary Range:
$237,100.00-$330,800.00
Candidates residing within 30 miles of the New York City or Boston MassMutual offices, or within 50 miles of the Springfield office, will be expected to follow a hybrid schedule of working in the office three days per week (unless traveling).
