Job Description

ROLE SUMMARY

This Corporate Controller leadership team role is responsible for driving the execution of strategic goals/objectives and delivering on key priorities.  This leadership role is highly visible and is integral to developing and managing the evolution and realization of the organization’s vision.

Within Corporate Finance, this role leads and influences meaningful change within the finance ecosystem. This role collaborates  with other business partners to influence positive change on enterprise results and strategic delivery.

This role involves communication and collaboration with senior executives and multiple cross-functional groups, both individually and through management of the team, while applying a holistic view of the enterprise.

This role delivers on execution across a broad array of Controller functions and initiatives, while enhancing business metrics, overseeing budget expenses, and managing contractor/offshore relationships.

This role reports directly to the Corporate Controller.

SAMPLE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Champion the Controllers strategic vision and business framework to deliver on key objectives, functional responsibilities, and operational effectiveness
  • Support the development of the new organization and the implementation of structure, processes and standards to improve planning, execution, and success
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders and drive effective cross-functional discussions and decisions to enhance collaboration and promote execution
  • Understand points of intersection and drive awareness of upcoming deliverables, events, resource planning, and other interdependencies/issues
  • Maintain KPIs/metrics regarding progress and any required actions on business priorities and strategic objectives
  • Lead business management of the portfolio across Controllers, inclusive of governance, budget alignment and timely deliverables
  • Regular and timely portfolio overview to ensure Leadership Team awareness of progress and challenges, while actively partnering on necessary actions
  • Lead strategic assessments to identify and quantify business opportunities using cost-benefit analysis, resource capacity information and process roadmaps
  • Develop strategic plans and opportunities using external benchmarks, internal analysis, and mission critical priorities
  • Infuse metrics into quarterly strategy discussions for review and action as well as ongoing communications for awareness and employee morale
  • Ensure timely and effective communication of results and analysis to executive leadership and business partners
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities within the business unit activities, and translate that insight into actionable recommendations
  • Use insight to identify risks and opportunities and implement improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of Controllers
  • Initiate, lead and oversee increasingly complex cross-functional projects and continuous improvement across Controllers
  • Enable improved prioritization, collaboration, and execution across Controllers
  • Embrace innovation and reinvention opportunities to deliver excellence
  • Solve complex business problems and have a high degree of accountability
  • Oversee the development and analysis of Controllers operating expenses across actuals, budgets and forecasts
  • Oversight, collaboration  and evaluation of Controllers relationships with offshore partners, recurring contractor engagements and ad hoc consultant use
  • Foster and engage a high-performing, inclusive culture by attracting, retaining, and developing diverse talent who feel engaged in the vision and priorities
  • Develop the next generation of leaders who strategically partner with internal/external stakeholders to facilitate knowledge transfer and talent mobility
  • Drive employee and team engagement, development, and communication

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, with a Master’s degree or equivalent preferred
  • 15 years experience in a progressively more impactful leadership influencing business execution, with strong preference for financial services industry experience
  • Effective knowledge and experience with corporate governance best practices, as well as internal control principles and execution
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to effectively identify, communicate, and share solutions
  • Demonstrated use of insight to identify and implement improvements that increase business value and efficiency
  • Leadership experience and detail orientation with complex cross-functional projects involving multiple business areas across a diverse value stream
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with disparate audiences and stakeholders across executive, peer and direct report settings

    • ability to convey and influence complex issues, methodologies and solutions through both written and verbal communication
  • Track record effectively presenting complex matters in a clear concise manner, with the demonstrated ability to influence positive business action
  • Sound business judgment in an environment of rapid change with the ability to respond to changes in conditions, tight deadlines and high-pressure situations
  • Experience working in a transformational setting through driving change to achieve improved outcomes while managing competing priorities
  • Passion for not being satisfied with the status quo, motivated to pursue positive change and work with others to facilitate enhanced results
  • Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and developing a high impact team that exhibits strong results delivery, diversity in thought and composition, strong business partnerships and talent development
