Sales Enablement Consultant, Internal Sales Channel, MMSD

Full-Time, (Hybrid), Boston

The Opportunity

MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD) is looking for an experienced and passionate Sales Enablement Consultant to support MMSD in providing world class experience for our customers.  You will have a strong desire to learn, practice and apply new skills in partnership with talented, experienced sales professionals.  You’ll join a team that has a mission to broaden financial wellness and education to communities throughout the country. 

We are looking for a strong individual contributor who will be a member of MMSD’s Annuity Distribution team. As a Sales Enablement Consultant, you play a key role in supporting the effectiveness and efficiency of the annuity distribution team. This individual will assist the distribution team (key account managers, internal wholesalers, and external wholesalers) in driving annuity products sales with financial professionals.

The Team

We’re growing and our clients deserve the best. MMSD’s annuity strategy is to aggressively grow top line sales by expanding existing and establishing new partnerships with our channel: Banks, Credit Unions, Wirehouse, National/Regional Broker Dealers, and Independent Broker-Dealers. MMSD is making significant investments in technology, sales, operations, marketing, and product development. Progress against our strategy will be driven by the MMSD Annuity Team working across the enterprise where we prioritize a dynamic, agile, and entrepreneurial culture.

The Impact

As Sales Enablement Consultant you will be focused on improving organizational efficiency and acting as a bridge between technology solutions and internal/external customers. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Sales Team Initiatives:

  • Act as point person representing MMSD in key projects across the enterprise, for example advisor portal and wholesaler advisory board.

  • Provide support for industry conferences, firm conferences, and due diligence meetings.

  • Provide support for sales initiatives, campaigns, new capability roll out and go to market launches.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and support scaling of sales team.

  • Act as a champion of reducing friction in the sales process and directly enhance sales team effectiveness. Develop strategies and plans to drive end user adoption and optimization.

  • Collaborate closely with external partners, internal sales teams, reporting, operations and training teams to improve technological functionality including seeking iterative feedback

  • Identify issues related to client experience, recommend a solution, gather stakeholder feedback and lead a project to implement the solution.

  • Track and analyze performance and utilization metrics to identify areas for improvement and measure the impact of enablement initiatives.

Advisor Integration:

  • Provide management support to explore, build business cases and implementation plans for key integrations in advisor ecosystem tools. Integrate into pre-sales tools such as Money Guide Pro, E-Money and post sales tools such as Clientworks, Albridge, DST Vision.

  • Partner with key accounts to ensure that MassMutual is visible throughout the advisor ecosystem.

Wholesaler Productivity:

  • Support the sales teams in leveraging sales tools i.e. HeyDan, Seismic, Hearsay, Riva

  • Work with the management team to resolve roadblocks to increase wholesaler productivity.

  • Other duties as assigned.

A successful Sales Enablement Consultant will possess the following skills and competencies:

  • Agility: Anticipate problems, learn in real time, track results and pivot to new approaches where needed, thrive on feedback and demonstrate a can-do attitude.

  • Courage: Creative problem solving, take risks with new approaches, learn from both success and failure and challenge the status quo

  • Leading Others: Foster a collaborative environment, partner across function and business units, promote an open, diverse exchange of ideas.

  • Communication: Employ effective communication skills (written, verbal, visual), effective conflict resolution and foster open communication.

  • Business Acumen: Articulate, inspire, create buy-in, and help associates understand the MMSD Annuity tools and how they fit in with overall MassMutual strategy. Drive business insight competencies with team members, identify trends and opportunities to drive increased sales results.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with operations, business or sales enablement or a related role in the financial services industry

  • 2+ years of experience presenting ideas and business information to various levels of leadership, including technical and non-technical audiences

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Travel Required: Up to 10% - locally and to industry conferences

The Ideal Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Finance

  • 5+ years’ experience in Financial Services

  • Previous experience with Annuity Products

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust, influence without authority, and communicate complex concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent documentation skills with the ability to clearly capture and communicate business needs, statuses, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects under pressure

  • Must be detailed-oriented and well-organized self-starter with high energy and creativity.
