Job Description

Department:

The Policyholder Services and Annuity New Business Operations team is responsible for servicing all of MassMutual customers as well as the enabling new sales and strategic efforts for our Life, Annuity and Disability insurance lines.We seek to do this in a high caliber team.We are a driven organization, working as a cohesive team on multiple ideas, creating efficiencies of our business and piloting new service models at any given time.Culturally, we look for individuals that challenge each other openly, regardless of level or role on the team and focus on data driven analysis and decision making.

Job Summary:

As the leader of the Annuity New Business and Sourced Operations, this role is responsible for creating a sustainable service model for our Annuity business as well as our sourced business partners. This is a highly complex role with multiple partners within product, actuarial, technology, finance at all levels within the organization which you will work collectively with to develop a 2-3 year roadmap for the Annuity business.Pivotal to this role is the engagement of our field partners and third party distribution partners as you design a service model that is both cost effective and customer experience focused.This role should excel at communication across all levels of the organization, be successful at driving deliver, design process and structure, and be comfortable in an evolutionary culture that exists within a larger established organization.

Responsibilities:

Strategic responsibility for business initiatives as it relates to the execution of Annuity product development of business operations, technology development, field management marketing and communication strategies.

Oversee and manage third party vendors for Life and Annuity product lines and drive adherence to Service Level Agreements, Statements of Work with a focus on the customer experience and operational efficiency.

Make recommendations to develop business initiatives internally and externally with firms and producers for marketing initiatives, technology offerings and support.

Serve as primary liaison between Product, Actuarial, Legal, Field Sales and other businesses as necessary in the development and execution of Annuity product offerings and enhancements.

Budget oversight and management for Operations strategic partner and vendor relationships.

Prioritize and lead build efforts of Annuity customer acquisition features and solutions spanning vendor-based products as well as in-house solutions including web-based portals, applications call center and technical ecosystem.

Lead work effort to identify customer journey maps, identify gaps and build plans to address in support of the Annuity business.

Identify and prioritize work to deliver ideal customer journey, managing resources and projects.

Working with the Technology partners to ensure alignment of technical infrastructure with product, finance to ensure the delivery meets all MassMutual requirements.

Manage the Annuity capability and technical roadmap and feature sequencing for Annuity specific programs and product offerings.

Identify opportunity to build scalable digital experiences throughout the entire sales funnel.

Prioritize and manage all project management activity across the team, PM, and BA resources, overseeing scoping, requirement and delivery of programs.

Share knowledge, be an influencer within and across the organization.

Hire and cultivate a high-performing, lean team of both user experience and web/application development resources.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

10+ years of demonstrated leadership excellence in financial services operations management, with success in managing large scale projects and/or teams in the life insurance industry.

Proven strategic thinking skills including forward looking thought leadership that results in creative solutions, strategic roadmaps, and continuous improvement.

Ability to strategically develop and enhance relationships with multiple stakeholders.

Ability to effectively negotiate and manage third party vendors.

In-depth knowledge of annuity products, product development process and familiarity with captive and third party distribution.

In-depth experience working in third party space, including brokerage, producer focused firms and institutions.

Strong operational knowledge including, but not limited to: New Business, Underwriting, Technology, Post Issue, Legal & Risk.

Analytical problem-solving skills, excellent writing, and presentation skills with experience in outlining functional specifications and requirements.

Must be organized and highly motivated.

Strong communication and client facing skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Ability to be flexible and creative in a wide range of product types.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (MBA preferred)

Professional designations (e.g., CLU, ChFC, CFP).
