Job Description
The Opportunity
MassMutual Strategic Distributors (MMSD) is looking for a self-starting and partnership-oriented Life Internal Wholesaler to join our Internal Sales Desk. You will have a strong desire to broaden financial wellness and education to communities throughout the country.
The Team
The Internal Sales Desk at MassMutual Strategic Distributors works with distributors in the third-party/independent/brokerage general agent space to sell our Whole Life and Variable Universal Life, Universal Life, Term products through financial advisors and independent agents.
The Impact
In partnership with your Internal Wholesaling and Advances Sales team, you build your knowledge of life insurance products, riders, and concepts while gaining industry knowledge and insights on market trends. You’ll respond to inquiries from our distribution partners and advisors on products, sales designs/concepts, and product positioning and you will you consult with our clients (broker dealers, captive agents, and/or institutions) on pre-and-post-sale technical product support. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Proactively contact and consult with broker dealers, institutions, and/or financial professionals in pre-sale life insurance sales support
Demonstrate understanding of the life insurance, financial planning industry and competitive landscape by building expertise of product positioning and sales concepts while continually gaining industry knowledge and insights on market trends
Develops a comprehensive understanding of existing/targeted firms/institutions including targeted market segments, how they operate, and/or value propositions
Partner with external wholesalers, relationship managers and other key business partners while communicating confidently, driving sales and increasing penetration within territory
Maintains sales call data in appropriate systems
Utilize software tools including Salesforce, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom, Illustration software, and financial planning software
Demonstrate understanding of the life insurance, financial planning industry and competitive landscape by building expertise of product positioning and sales concepts while continually gaining industry knowledge and insights on market trends
Provide sales and marketing materials and specific sales illustration support as needed
The Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma
2+ years' working experience with life/annuity clients, broker dealers, captive agents and/or institutions
1+ years' experience internal wholesaling or providing sales solutions within financial services and/or financial institutions (banks, credit unions, wires, broker dealers)
FINRA SIE, 6 & 63 at time of application or must be obtained within 180 days of hire
State Life & Health at time of application or must obtain within 180 days of hire
The Ideal Qualifications
2+ years’ experience internal wholesaling with life/annuity products
FINRA SIE, Series 6 and 63 at time of application
State Life & Health at time of application
Proven communication skills (both written and verbal)
Well-established self-management skills, e.g., time management, prioritization, managing internal and external relationships
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Outlook, Excel & PowerPoint
Extensive knowledge about individual life insurance products (i.e. Whole Life, UL, VUL and Term), practices, trends and information affecting the business and organization
Experience working with BGA's, POS's and IMO's
Experience with Salesforce
Compensation: $60-65K base salary range, plus sales-based incentive opportunity resulting in total target compensation package of $90-100K
