Job Description
The Opportunity:
As a Project Manager you will work as part of a shared services technology team that supports the Product Manufacturing and Sales Distribution business areas of MassMutual. In this role, as well as all roles within MassMutual, you will demonstrate accountability, agility, a dedication to be inclusive, a strong business acumen, and will show courage, even in the most difficult situations. The Team:
The Distribution Management Support Team, as part of the larger Sales and Distribution Technology organization, is comprised of Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers and Quality Analysts. The team is customer-focused & consultative. We maintain integral relationships with a large variety of business partners to manage the build of efficient and effective technical solutions for the MMUS Advisor Operations and Product business partners with a focus on advisor data management and compensation.
What your days and weeks will look like.
- Lead project teams during all phases of the development life cycle including requirements gathering and analysis, design, build, pilot, implementation and continuous service
- Develop project plans, manage, monitor and report on all project tasks, activities, expectations, controls and deliverables
- Help with requirement development and technical translation with the team
- Work with architects, developers, and others to plan, develop technical scope of work, and manage the execution of projects/product changes in response to requirements from stakeholders
- Engage with all levels across the enterprise managing relationships and expectations
- Manage and driving program/ project execution on time and on budget
- Identify, understand, and work to mitigate issues and risks proactively with the project team, business partners, and leadership
- Be self-supportive in collaborating with peers to effectively deliver a robust solution for the business
- Serve as a conduit of knowledge between functional and technical teams
- Manage budget, timeline, and scope for the platform teams
- Assist in developing processes and best practices for the team
- Motivate teams to work together, communicate, and deliver
- Navigate ambiguity to deliver results
The Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree
- 3+ years managing and driving the execution of medium to complex projects
The Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrate capability to be disciplined and flexible at the same time
- Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Experience with managing vendor/consultant integration/interaction
- Knowledge of Insurance policy processing and Producer/Advisor Compensation
- Experience with project management tools and techniques, such as MS Project, JIRA, Confluence, Scrum and Kanban
- Excellent interpersonal communication, conflict management, coordination, and planning skills with cross-functional teams
- Skilled in applying judgment to balance process compliance with achievement of business objectives
- Project leadership experience focused on engaging others in the delivery and execution of technical solutions and service deliverables
- Ability to assess a project's scope and the team's ability to execute
- Outcome oriented with the ability to drill down from the big picture to process details
- Ability to communicate objectives, plans, status, and results clearly
- Strong leadership skills and influencer
- Ability to collaborate across diverse teams and organizations
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented
- Solid grasp of software technologies and stacks
- PM Certification (PMP and/or Agile Scrum Master) preferred
