The Opportunity
The role of the Financial Business Planning Consultant is to provide tactical support for the Financial Planning Case Consulting Unit (CCU), which is a team of consultants providing support for fee-based financial planning cases. The strategic design consultant will report to the Head of Advice and Financial Planning CCU and use agility to balance between supporting financial planning cases and supporting the strategic initiatives of the unit. In this role, as well as all roles within MassMutual, you will demonstrate accountability, agility, a dedication to be inclusive, a strong business acumen, and will show courage, even in the most difficult situations. The Team
As the needs of advisors and clients change and demand more wealth management and planning products and services, MM Wealth Management has greater needs to thoughtfully and effectively engage with our Field partners to promote new and existing capabilities, products, and services, and swiftly execute key initiatives that will positively impact advisors and clients resulting in growth. As a member of the Wealth Management organization, you will join our team of passionate experts across multiple disciplines including Product, Financial Planning, Practice Management, Lending & Banking, Trust, Investments and Operations.
The Impact
The Financial Business Planning Consultant will work proactively with the field and internal and external business partners to drive results, plan implementation, and provide a client-centric experience. In addition, the individual will be responsible for ensuring advisors and their staff are effectively onboarded to the CCU service model by operationalizing workflows and processes.
The Key Responsibilities Include:
Primary support to Advisors on Financial Planning cases for business owners, and proactively markets CCU Business Planning Services to advisors in the field.
Partner with the Senior Consultants in addressing case load volume concerns during peak volume time periods, including cases for affluent and high net worth individuals.
Assist Advisors with both basic and advanced plan analysis, plan design and development of a client strategy to meet client goals.
Own the management of the CCU’s Quality Assurance (QA) program.
Own the ongoing CCU Improvement Roadmap, acting as a point person on future strategic initiatives and influencing the field.
Develop workflows, process enhancements, and documentation to operationalize CCU capabilities.
Liaise with Business Operations and other business partners to support effective management of CCU new business and services, including consulting or owning business process definition and forms.
Create and update templates used in the financial planning process that adheres to the CCU service model.
Champion the implementation of operational and service enhancement of CCU initiatives.
Proactively research and apply best practices in terms of CCU service design, taking business capabilities, cost, speed to market, innovation, and other critical objectives into account.
Ensure data integrity guidelines are met for all activities of the CCU.
Partner with the Senior Consultants in their business development duties by managing the CCU new business pipeline.
Embrace the MassMutual Way in support of a comprehensive, consultative approach to client service.
Develop strong knowledge regarding core company products and services and be proficient in influencing implementation of plans.
Focus on helping advisors run more efficient and profitable planning practices.
Client data entry to various planning software including but not limited to eMoney, Right Capital, Money Guide, etc. as needed.
The Minimum Qualifications
7+ years’ experience working in the financial services
2+ years of financial planning experience including investment planning, retirement planning, estate planning, tax planning, and protection planning
Series 7 license at time of application
Series 63 or equivalent license or attain within 180 days of start
Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), CFA or other advanced industry designation / degree required at time of application
6+ months experience with eMoney or other financial planning software
Bachelor's Degree
The Minimum Qualifications
1+ year of business planning experience for organizations of varying size from micro all the way to large businesses
Experience in project management and coordinating relationships across multiple organizations
Real world knowledge of business and estate planning techniques and their applications to the affluent markets, and of products and services available throughout the industry
Possess a solid understanding of life insurance and annuity products and the sales processes with the ability to simplify into readily understandable concepts for clients
Communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to express ideas and share information with coworkers, advisors in an accurate manner
