Enterprise Architect - Technology & Design

The Opportunity

The Technology & Design Enterprise Architect will contribute to and help drive the overall modernization strategy. This architecture role is a combination of hands-on and strategic vision around Cloud, DevOps and Continuous Architecture practices throughout the full SDLC. A successful candidate will have recent hands-on experience within the plan, develop, integrate, deploy, monitor and manage lifecycle and will have developed and operationalized end to end solutions that delivered value across a large organization.  They will be a technically strong, able to influence improvement and are comfortable working with key stakeholders across the company.

The Team

The MassMutual Enterprise Technology and Experience organization is seeking an outstanding Enterprise Architect to join the Technology & Design practice.  Our group is focused on the improvement of architecture across the enterprise.  We support business and technology leadership, as well as solution teams designing and developing their products.  The role requires the ability to engage throughout the organization and provide guidance on the application of modern technology and design techniques. 

The Impact:

As a member of our team, you will evaluate platforms, technologies and solution designs to enable MassMutual to make high impact, long-term decisions in development of software applications that support business capabilities.  They will also develop standards and best practices for high-quality, resilient and scalable software. This includes reference architectures, strategies, road maps and patterns with supporting code. This is a critical strategic architecture role to help drive digital transformation and create a competitive advantage for the company.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors in engineeringor related degree 
  • 5+ years of experience as Solution Architect, supporting technology teams in their design practice
  • 3+ years of experience as Enterprise Architect, working with Executive level stakeholders on strategy and road maps
  • 5+ years of hands-on development within Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • 5+ years of hands-on usage of DevOps practices
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, or Docker Swarm)

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience developing and supporting technology architecture (prior roles as Technical Architect, Solution Architect and Enterprise Architect expected).
  • Proven ability to present complex topics to groups (large and small).
  • Prior experience in compliance role addressing technology onboarding, security, SDLC, open-source software or technology asset management practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of the leading Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of DevOps, CI/CD, Agile and Lean philosophies.
  • Proven ability creating strategy, roadmaps or other guidance focused works, presenting them to large groups and later using them during support engagements.
  • Extensive experience of providing architectural direction to project development teams or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Proven ability to support teams with diverse delivery patterns, including development languages, legacy to greenfield development and waterfall to highly agile delivery processes.
  • History of collaboration within a multi-practice architecture team, spanning business and technology viewpoints and constructively advocating for improvements based on informed decisioning.
  • Proven ability to guide large-scale organizational transformation using Lean/Agile, Cloud and DevOps/SRE practices.
  • Recent experience with ArchiMate, LucidChart, Gliffy or Miro for diagramming
  • Experience Developing solutions based on quality metrics (NFR) in agreement with stakeholders.
  • Experience Conducting architectural review sessions, providing feedback on solution designs which balance assumptions and constraints – leading to key architectural decisions.
  • Experience Providing consulting support to technology teams and their management regarding modern design, development and deployment practices within a diverse enterprise environment.
  • Extensive experience reviewing architectural artifacts with focus on improving practice across a diverse community.
  • Extensive experience of planning, building and running a full-lifecycle solutions using Cloud and DevOps practices.
  • Wide knowledge of Cloud offerings required to aid teams in service selection and configuration.
  • Commitment to continuous learning to drive improvement.
