Financial Accounting Systems Implementation – Head of Data Management

The Financial Accounting Systems Implementation – Head of Data Management is a newly created role that will be responsible for master data management, code block design and maintenance, data conversion and data validation areas of MassMutual’s enterprise accounting systems upgrade to SAP S4/Hana platform. The person in this position will lead a team and report directly to the Head of Finance Accounting Systems Transformation (FAST).

As the Head of Data Management you will be responsible for:

  • Understanding the capabilities and functionalities of the SAP S4/Hana accounting platform - implementation – this would include understanding the scope and impact of the S4/Hana implementation to the business processes, working with the process owners, program workstream owners and technology partners to finalize data related business and functional requirements. Ensure proposes configurations meet business unit reporting requirements as well as external regulatory filings and other audit requirements.
  • Design and implementation of code block and chart of accounts rationalization
  • Leading, in the functional capacity, all data migration, validation, testing and business sign-off activities pertaining to S4/Hana implementation.  

You will be expected to take proactive ownership and drive workstreams to completion. You will lead and supervise a team of MassMutual employees and implementation partner(s) working on the workstream under your ownership.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12-15 years of experience in design and development of data intensive projects with expertise in SAP Data Services/BODS, SAP Information Steward, SAP S4 HANA, SAP Migration Cockpit, MS SQL Server, ETL, SQL, SAP FI, MM and SD modules
  • Expertise in Data management and BI Reporting
  • Extensive experience in the end-to-end data life cycle of a large-scale project including scope determination, identification of source systems, requirements gathering, gap analysis, data extraction, data staging, field mapping, transformation logic, data profiling, data cleansing, de-duplication, data validation, preload reports, data loading, data reconciliation, testing, trouble shooting, mock runs, cutover and go-live.
  • Basic to advanced level understanding of financial accounting and reporting data needs, preferably in Insurance industry
